Nowadays many people face sugar cravings. Many health professionals believe that it is very difficult to stick with a healthy diet. Most of the times cravings are driven by the brain’s need. It's not your body has a need for the specific food. If you may have a single bite and stop only, it would indulge a little and it's absolutely fine when you get the craving.
Here are some tricks that would help you to fight with sugar cravings.
If you are hungry, you should eat healthy and meal which fills up the stomach. A person should realize craving is not the same as hunger. It is not always your body calling for some energy but its brain who needs something which releases a lot of dopamine as a reward. When you get a craving and when you are hungry, it is very difficult to resist. A craving is a combined form of hunger with a powerful drive that many people face a hard time to overcome.
A person should take a hot shower.
Many people who experience sugar cravings should take hot showers or baths since it will provide relief. Water should be hot but not that much hot such that it burns out the skin. And it should not be at the verge of feeling uncomfortable. A person should let the water run over the back and shoulders so it gets heat up and one should stay there for at least 5-10 minutes. After you step out of the shower, you will have some dazed feeling as if you have come out of the sauna. At some point, sugar craving would be gone.
One should go for a brisk walk outside.
If you are a person who loves to run, running would be a better option. So, it would distance you from the food for which you would be craving. Also, the exercise would release endorphins. It would produce “feel good” chemicals in the brain and your craving would be off.
Due to some reason, if you are not able to go outside, you should do some exhausting sets of pushups or burpees, body weight squats or another different body weight exercise.
